With the release of Skellig David Gray has tapped into a sound that is extremely poignant for the world today. There is a feeling of isolation and loneliness that runs through the album from title track ‘Skellig’ fittingly two small islands that sit on their own apart from the west coast of Ireland.
Gray however does what David Gray does best and although the loneliness is there he always leaves us with a little bit of hope that change is coming and that it won’t be this way forever. On a journey from coast to coast the power of nature and how small but ultimately unified we are.
With incredible harmonies from some Irish connections including Niamh Farrell and David Kitt this album is just a beautiful listen. An enchanting playlist of everything we listen to David Gray for, definitely one for those easy listening moments we all need.
