I think it is fair to say that KoL have gone through a period of discovery from their Indie start through to the huge commercial success that was ‘Only by the Night’, what has come out of the journey is an awesome sweet spot.
If you were a fan of the sound on ‘Youth and Young Manhood’ or ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’, or you joined the fandom with ‘Because of the Times’ or ‘Only by the Night’, When You See Yourself has something for everyone.
That Indie sound that made us all fall in love with KoL shines through but what is clear from When You See Yourself is that the guys have become so much more comfortable with the sound they want to produce. With a fantastic mix of fast pace driven tracks to the slow numbers that let Caleb Followill’s voice carry the song. This one is a no brainer for indie fans or music lovers.
