Often described as having a dream pop sound it’s easy to see, from start to finish on Solar Power, where that label has come from. With her sweet almost innocent vocal talents Lorde’s Solar Power could easily be the soundtrack to all your dreams. Lyrically focusing on Lorde’s leisure time and driven by acoustic guitar rather than the synth heavy sound we are used to the album is a journey we’ve been allowed join Lorde on.
Moving away from the sound we have come to know this album is an exciting change of direction from the New Zealand artist. Opting to not release the album on cd for environmental reasons Solar Power is only available as a digital download and on Vinyl, with plans to support the album with a Solar Power world tour. Having mixed critical reviews, the album still hit the Apple pre add chart number 1 spot and entered the Billboard chart at number 5.
If you’re looking for that chill summer sound, then this is the perfect album for you. Lorde has a stunning voice that brings that chilled stoner sound to life on Solar Power. An album that speaks against fame and idols, this is definitely Lorde’s best album so far.
