The American singer songwriter returns with her highly anticipated second album “Surrender”. Following on from the success of her debut, Rogers returns with more heartfelt tunes, collaborating on writing and production with Thomas Hull (A.K.A. Kid Harpoon) who had a writing credit for ‘Lights On’ from “Heard it in a Past Life”.
Rogers has herself described the album as sounding like “feral joy” and in listening it is a very valid description. As an artist she never shies away from those personal themes, and they are very apparent on “Surrender.” With easily one of the sweetest vocals around there is a sweetness to every track but always with an underlying power.
If you’ve been a fan of Maggie from her debut, then this is a no brainer with “Surrender” being everything you want from a Rogers album. If you’re new to her sound then what a treat you’re in for, Maggie Rogers is easily one of the best female vocalists producing work at the moment.
