Typhoons is the third album from this rock duo although with this new album comes a change in sound from the English pair. Recorded over a two-year period with a break in the middle for touring some intimate shows and festivals and the all too familiar pandemic break, which may have come as a blessing as the guys have said that during this period they wrote additional tracks, two of which Mike Kerr has said are the best on the record.
The sound on Typhoons is definitely a break away from that hard rock sound that their first two albums produced with an almost disco-like sound to some of the tracks. Now don’t get me wrong the driving guitar sound is still there, it’s just not the complete focus of the record. Trying to evolve their sound to maybe become more mainstream it will appeal to a larger audience.
I still love their debut self-titled album the new sound is a nice progression from their harder rock sound. If you’ve loved the previous album then absolutely give this one a listen and if you are new to the guys then check them out.
